Free guided sightseeing tour through Old Town

If you arrive in Stockholm already in the afternoon on Sunday (June 16), you are most welcome to join us for a free sightseeing walk through Gamla stan (The Old Town), the historical city centre of Stockholm. We meet at 17 o’clock at Stortorget (The Market) for a guided walking tour in small groups for around 1.5 hours, before we end up at the same place at around 18.30.

Stockholm was founded in the 13 century, and since it quickly became the capital of Sweden, and since the Old Town is still intact, many outstanding historical buildings remain. We will pass Slottet (The Royal Palace), Storkyrkan (The Cathedral), Riddarholmskyrkan (The Riddarholm Church), Riddarhuset (The House of the Nobility), Riksdagshuset (The Parliament House) and Tyska kyrkan (The German Church), to name just some of the most important landmarks. Since the Old Town is situated on a small island, we will walk partly along the waterside, and will also notice landmarks in other parts of the inner city, like Stadshuset (City Hall). We will also squeeze through the most narrow lane of the Old Town (Mårten Trotzigs gränd), only some 90 cm broad.

When we are back at Stortorget, there is the possibility for eating/drinking at the restaurant Ebenist, situated directly at the market place (Address: Stortorget 7). The restaurant visit will be at your own cost, however. (If you do not have the opportunity to take part in the walking tour, you are of course most welcome to join us at the restaurant.)
