    Summertime

The Department is closed on 19 June – 9 August. However, we continue to keep it locked on other times, due to the situation with the coronavirus pandemic. Our student offices/student counsellors have specific Summer office hours.

    About us

The Institute for Interpreting and Translation Studies (Tolk- och översättarinstitutet - TÖI) was founded 1986 at the Stockholm University with a national assignment directly from the government to educate translators and interpreters in order to meet Sweden's needs for translation and interpretation services.

The teaching at The Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism will mainly be online during the autumn term 2020. We are, however, planning for some examinations and occasional teaching on campus.

I am extremely impressed with how flexible you, our students, have been, how you have adapted to these entirely new conditions for your studies, and the patience you have shown.
